## Review a VA disability claim in Medrecords AI

To review a VA disability claim in Medrecords AI, pick the Veteran Disability case type and upload the C-file and any private records. Confirm the branch, the service dates and the theory of service connection. Then read each claimed condition against the records and write a cited report. You decide what the file proves.

### What this case type does

A VA claim turns on 3 parts. The veteran needs a current diagnosed disability. The file needs an event, injury or illness in service. And a doctor needs to link the 2. People call that link the "nexus". The Veteran Disability case type is set up around those 3 parts.

- The confirm window asks for the **Branch of service** , the **Service dates** and the **Theory of service connection** .
- The case focus lists the claimed conditions.
- When you ask questions, the assistant reads the records against the 3 parts and keeps them apart. A record that speaks to 1 part speaks only to that part.
- It quotes a doctor's wording exactly. "At least as likely as not" and "possibly related" are kept as written.
- The reports pre-selected for you are the Record Review and the Causation Analysis.

### What it does not do

Be clear about the limits before you start.

- It never says whether service connection is established. That is the VA's finding.
- It gives no rating percentage and no deadline.
- It does not sort a C-file by VA document type for you. You find service treatment records, exams and decisions with filters and search.
- It only reads what you upload. It does not pull records from the VA.

### The playbook, step by step

| Step | Article |
| --- | --- |
| 1 | Set up the case: branch, service dates and theory |
| 2 | Upload the C-file and find each kind of record |
| 3 | Find missing service records and gaps |
| 4 | Track each claimed condition |
| 5 | Choose a report |
| 6 | A worked example: a fictional secondary claim |

### A good order to work in

1. Get the full C-file and the veteran's private records.
2. Create the case and upload them.
3. Confirm the case details with care. They lock after you confirm.
4. Check the missing records list. Look for service years with no records.
5. For each claimed condition, find the diagnosis, the event in service and the doctor's link.
6. Write the report and run the verification check.

New to the C-file? Read our guide on [how to read a VA C-file](https://medrecords.ai/guides/how-to-read-a-va-c-file/). For an overview of this case type, see [veteran disability record review](https://medrecords.ai/solutions/veteran-disability/).

Only VA-accredited attorneys, agents and Veterans Service Organizations may help prepare and present VA claims for a fee. Medrecords AI is a records tool for them and their staff.

Medrecords AI organizes and cites the records. Its output is not a medical or legal opinion and does not replace your expert.
