Flags and notes help you find what matters later. Exclusions take a record out of the chronology and exports without deleting it. None of these cost credits. Open **Settings** , then **Stages and flags** . 2. Under **Record flags** , press **New flag** . 3. Fill in **Name** , such as "Pre-existing". Add a description if you like, and pick a **Colour** . 4. Press **Save** . ### Flag a record or page - On the **Records** tab, press the flag button on a record row. The box "Flag this record" opens. Pick a flag. It goes on the first page of the record. - In a PDF viewer, hover over a page and press **Add flag** . This works in the Timeline chronology PDF and the Source pane. To jump between flagged pages in the Timeline PDF, use **Filter flags** and the next and previous buttons. ### Highlight the chronology PDF Highlights work in the Timeline chronology PDF only. 1. Open the **Timeline** tab. 2. Pick a tool: **Highlight text** , **Mark an area** or **Sticky note** . 3. Pick a colour: yellow, green, blue, pink or orange. 4. Select the text or area, or click where the note goes. The **Notes** tab in the viewer side panel lists every highlight and note in that document. ### Add a note 1. Press the note button on a record or a chronology entry. Its tip says "Add a note to this record" or "entry". 2. Type your remark. You can add a flag to the note. 3. Press **Add note** . The note prints beside the record or entry in the chronology PDF and in exports. If the PDF was built before you added the note, a banner offers **Rebuild PDF** . Deleting a note happens at once, with no second question. For a note about the whole case, open the case menu and pick its notes. Press **Add Note** to save. ### Exclude a record 1. On the Records tab, press **Exclude record** on the row. 2. Confirm. A message offers **Undo** for 8 seconds. The record leaves the chronology, the documents index, Q&A, exports and billing. Its pages and Bates numbers stay. Nothing is deleted. Exports you built before still include it until you rebuild them.
