## Read the medical chronology in Medrecords AI

The Timeline tab in Medrecords AI shows every dated event from the records in order, with the source page beside it. You can scroll the whole case or step through it 1 date at a time. Each entry tells you what happened, who was involved, and which page it came from. Reading and filtering the timeline costs no credits.

### Open the timeline

1. Open the case.
2. Press **Timeline** .

The timeline opens once the case has finished processing. Before that, you see "Timeline Not Available".

At the top, pick an index:

- **Documents Index** lists each record. This is where the timeline starts.
- **Chronologies Index** lists every dated event from the records.

### Read an entry

Each row shows the date, the time if the record gives one, and a short title. Under it you see the facility, the providers, the category and a relevance tag. Click a row to see more.

| Part | What it tells you |
| --- | --- |
| Date | The event date. "Undated" means the record gives none |
| Key date tag | This entry falls on the case's key date |
| Relevance | How much the entry matters to the case. Hover to see why |
| p. N | The page in the chronology PDF. Click it to jump there |
| What the record says | The event in plain words |
| Verbatim | The exact quote from the record |
| Source file | The name of the file you uploaded |

The "p. N" number is the page in the chronology PDF, not the page in your uploaded file. Use **Open Document Details** to see the full summary of the record.

### Step through 1 date at a time

1. Under view mode, pick **Date by date** instead of **Scroll** .
2. Press **Next date** or **Previous date** . The counter shows "Date N of M".
3. You can also use the left and right arrow keys.

The month strip at the top shows how many events fall in each month. The month of the key date has a pin and a red line.

### Filter and group

- Use the search box to find words. See [search your records](https://medrecords.ai/help/tasks/search/).
- Press **Filters** to narrow by date, document type, provider, facility, body part or flag. Press **Clear all filters** to reset.
- Use **Group by** to put entries under headings, such as provider or source file.

### Undated records

The **Undated Documents** button shows how many records have no date. Each one says "No date detected". Press **View source** to open its page.

### Leave an entry out

Press **Exclude** on an entry to take it out of the chronology and every export. Nothing is deleted. Use **Show excluded** to see excluded entries. They show struck through.
