## Set up report templates in Medrecords AI

A template sets the sections and layout of a report in Medrecords AI. Each report type has a built-in template. You can copy one and change its sections, or build a template from up to 6 of your own past reports so new reports match your style. Your templates live under Settings.

### Find your templates

1. Open **Settings** .
2. Go to **Report templates** .

Each template card has a tag:

| Tag | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| Built-in | Made by us. You can copy it but not change it |
| Yours | Made by you. You can edit or delete it |
| Your default | Used first for that report type |
| Choose explicitly | Written for 1 side. Never picked for you, you must choose it |

Press **Full template** on any card to see every section and its instructions.

### Copy a built-in template

1. Find the built-in template.
2. Press **Duplicate** .
3. The editor opens with the name "(copy)" added. Change what you need.
4. Press **Save template** .

The copy is yours. It does not change when the built-in one changes.

### Build a template from your own reports

1. Press **New template** .
2. Pick the **Report type** .
3. Under **Start from** , pick **Your own reports** .
4. Press **Continue** .
5. Upload 1 to 6 reports you wrote, as PDF or Word files.

The template follows their layout and writing style, and takes your letterhead, page and fonts. More reports give a closer match.

To start from the built-in layout instead, pick **The built-in template** in step 3.

### Edit a template

Press **Edit** on 1 of your templates. You can change:

- **Name** , such as "Defense IME review"
- **Report type**
- **Applies to** : any case type, or just 1
- **Content** . Each Heading 2 is a section of the report.

Press **Save changes** .

Be careful with **Start from** in the editor. Switching it replaces your content with the built-in template.

### Set your default

Press **Use as default** on 1 of your templates. You can have 1 default for each report type and case type. Press **Stop using as default** to go back to the built-in one.

When you create a report, your default shows first. You can still pick another. See [create a report](https://medrecords.ai/help/tasks/report-studio/).

### Delete a template

Press **Delete template** on 1 of your own. Built-in templates cannot be deleted.
