Record review cost estimator

For IME and QME physicians and hospital risk teams

This record review cost estimator compares what a medical record file costs you to read today with what Medrecords AI bills for the same file. Enter the page count, your own minutes per page and your hourly rate. You get your hours and cost, the Medrecords AI bill at 10¢ a page, and the processing time.

How much does a record review cost you today?

Multiply 3 numbers: pages in the file, your minutes per page and your hourly rate, then divide by 60. Medrecords AI bills 10¢ per deduplicated page, down to 5¢ a page at volume, and reads about 100 pages a minute. The estimator below does the arithmetic and shows every step.

Estimate your file

Enter 4 numbers. The results and the arithmetic update as you type. The math runs in your browser.

Every page, duplicates included. 1,000 is only a starting example. Change it.

Your own estimate. Leave it at 0 if you do not know.

Your number. How long an average page takes you now.

Your number. What an hour of your review time is worth or costs.

The Medrecords AI bill is the software cost only. It leaves out the time you spend reading the cited draft, checking the pages your opinion rests on and signing. Add that time yourself.

Your numbers, step by step

How the numbers are worked out

Each result uses 1 line of arithmetic. Check any of them with a calculator.

    1. Unique pages = pages in the file × (100 minus your duplicate percent) ÷ 100, rounded to the nearest page.
    2. Your hours today = pages in the file × your minutes per page ÷ 60. It counts every page, duplicates included, because you read a duplicate before you know it is one.
    3. Your cost today = pages in the file × your minutes per page ÷ 60 × your hourly rate.
    4. Medrecords AI bill = unique pages × $0.10. At volume the rate falls to $0.05 a page, so the bill can be as low as unique pages × $0.05. We do not publish the volume where the rate drops.
    5. Processing time = pages in the file ÷ 100, in minutes, rounded up to the next whole minute.

Your real bill counts the duplicates Medrecords AI detects in the file, not your estimate. Duplicates are never billed. Prices are as of 25 Oct 2026, from the pricing page.

    How the estimate works

Where do the minutes per page and the hourly rate come from?

From you. We do not supply a default or an average, because review speed depends on the file and the reviewer. Time yourself on a few pages of a real file and enter that number.

Why is the Medrecords AI bill based on unique pages?

Self-Service bills 10¢ per deduplicated page, down to 5¢ a page at volume, and duplicates are never billed. The estimator takes out the duplicate share you enter. Your real bill counts the duplicates Medrecords AI detects in the file, which can differ from your estimate.

How is the processing time worked out?

Medrecords AI reads about 100 pages a minute. The estimator divides the full page count by 100 and rounds up to the next whole minute. A 1,000-page file comes to about 10 minutes.

Does the estimate include my time to review the output?

No. It counts the software bill only. You still read the cited draft, check the pages your opinion rests on, revise it and sign. Add that time to the Medrecords AI side yourself.

Can I check the numbers on one of my own files?
