What does it cost to review a 1,000-page record?

$154.50 is the median price of reviewing 1 file of 1,000 pages across the 10 AI vendors whose public prices we could convert. The cheapest is $19 (MedLegal AI, per case) and the most expensive is $299 (Legalyze.ai, per case). 6 of the 10 cost between $100 and $200.

The number is what a physician reviewer or a hospital risk team would pay for 1 record of 1,000 pages, buying the smallest option each vendor publishes, with no free trial counted. Medrecords AI is our product: it bills $100 for the same file and is left out of the median. With it included, the median is $150.

26 of the 42 AI record review vendors in our 2026 software dataset publish no price at all. They quote on request, so they are not in this study.

At volume: 7 vendors publish a lower rate

7 of the 10 vendors bill by the page or the case, so their price has a floor you can read off the price page. At each vendor's lowest published rate, 1,000 pages cost $9.80 to $299, with a median of $66.50. Medrecords AI's volume rate is $50 per 1,000 pages.

The other 3 charge a flat monthly fee, so there is no floor: the more you run, the less each page costs. A $200 monthly plan used for 5 files of 1,000 pages works out to $40 per 1,000 pages. Used for 1 file, it is $200.

3 questions to ask any vendor before you compare

  1. What counts as a page? Medrecords AI bills deduplicated pages. OctopusLM bills every page uploaded, duplicates included. Dodonai bills a "billable page" of about 400 tokens of text. The same record can bill 3 different page counts.
  2. What does 1 file cost if it is my only file this month? A flat plan or a credit pack can cost more than a per-page rate for a single record, and less at volume.
  3. What does the price include? A chronology, a narrative summary and a physician-signed review are different products, even when they are sold in the same unit.

Method

Sample. The 42 vendors in our 2026 AI medical record review software dataset, last recorded between 2026-08-15 and 2026-10-20. 16 had published a price. On 3 Nov 2026 we opened each of those 16 price pages again and used what they said that day. Only vendors with a public price are included. Nothing here comes from a private quote or a sales call.

The test file. 1 record of 1,000 unique pages, 1 user, 1 month, no duplicates. We assume 1 file is 1 case.

Converting each price to 1 file of 1,000 pages.

  • Per page: the entry rate times 1,000.
  • Prepaid packs: the smallest pack that covers 1,000 pages.
  • Monthly plans with a page allowance: 1 month of the smallest plan whose allowance covers 1,000 pages.
  • Per case: the price of the smallest purchase that covers 1 case. We counted a per-case price only when the vendor states no page limit per case or says large files cost the same.
  • Flat subscriptions: 1 user for 1 month.

Lowest published rate. The lowest per-page or per-case rate on the price page, times 1,000 pages, or the largest plan used to its full allowance. Flat subscriptions have no floor and are left out of this median.

Left out of every number. Free trials and free tiers, temporary sale prices, add-ons, taxes, record retrieval fees and any price behind a form or a call. Medrecords AI is shown for reference and left out of every median.

Median. The middle value of the 10 costs. With an even count, the average of the 2 middle values.

Limitations

  • No hands-on test. We did not run a file through any of these products, so the study says nothing about output quality or accuracy.
  • Public data only, as published on 3 Nov 2026. Vendors change prices often: 7 of 16 did between our 2 checks. A quote may be lower than the list price.
  • Deliverables differ. Some vendors sell a chronology, some a summary, and Abstractive Health sells clinical chart summaries. A lower price can buy a different product.
  • Page definitions differ, as the 3 questions above show. We did not adjust for duplicates or token counts.
  • The 1-file cost assumes 1 user and 1 month. A team with 5 users or 20 files a month pays a different amount.
  • Medrecords AI sells a competing product and wrote this study. Our own price is shown on the same terms as everyone else's and kept out of the medians.
  • Not legal or clinical guidance. This page compares published prices. It does not tell you how to handle a case or a patient.
