Each line stands on its own and carries its own number. Every count is computed from the same 328 vendor profiles the pricing disclosure study used.

  1. 57 of 32857 of 328 medical record review vendors (17%) publish any indicative cost on their own website. How we counted: Vendors whose Indicative cost row is marked published: 57. The other 271 publish no figure at all.
  2. 186 of 328186 of 328 vendors (57%) do not say how they bill, whether by the page, the hour, the case or a subscription. How we counted: Vendors whose Pricing model row is not published: 328 minus the 142 that name a model.
  3. 8.5 cents8.5 cents a page is the median lowest rate among the 8 vendors that publish a per-page price, in a range from 0.8 cents to 35 cents. How we counted: The lowest figure in each of the 8 per-page rates the pricing study quotes, then the median of those 8 figures.
  4. 85 of 32885 of 328 vendors (26%) publish a typical turnaround time. How we counted: Vendors whose Typical turnaround row is marked published: 85.
  5. 30 of 32830 of 328 vendors (9%) state which export formats a buyer gets back, the rarest of the 8 facts in the study. How we counted: Vendors whose Export formats row is marked published: 30, the lowest count of the 8 rows each vendor is scored on.

What vendors publish, fact by fact

Human review is the one thing almost every vendor mentions. Price, turnaround and output format are the facts a buyer needs to compare offers, and they are the ones most often missing.

How the market bills, when it says

142 of 328 vendors name a pricing model. We coded each one to a single billing unit from the words the vendor uses. Only 8 say they bill by the page, the unit that compares most cleanly across vendors. 54 more name a model that is only a quote or a contract, which tells a buyer how the sale works but not what a file will cost.

Each vendor sits in 1 row, so the rows sum to 328. A vendor that names 2 units is counted under the first one in the order above. The coding rules are in the method section.

The 8 published per-page rates

These are the only per-page figures in the 328 profiles, as the pricing study quotes them. 6 come from software vendors and 2 from service vendors, too few to split by provider type. Rates cover different deliverables: an index, a chronology and a narrative summary are different products sold in the same unit.

Method

Sample. 328 medical record review vendors: 176 software listings and 152 service listings, the full vendor corpus of the Medrecords AI Content Hub when the pricing study was built. The page reads a frozen copy of that corpus. The live Content Hub has changed since, so its current counts can differ from the ones here.

Dates. Each vendor website was read between 13 August and 1 September 2026. Published 26 September 2026.

What counts as published. Each vendor is scored on 8 facts: processing model, human QA, typical turnaround, pricing model, indicative cost, export formats, best for, and customer satisfaction. A fact counts as published when the vendor profile records a value for it from the vendor's public materials. A fact marked not published means we looked and did not find it. Nothing here was quoted to us privately.

Billing units. We coded the pricing model text by keyword, in this order: per page, per hour, per case or request or record or report, subscription or seat or credit or license, quote or contract with no unit, then anything else. First match wins. The rules sit in the build script, so anyone can rerun them.

Limits. Vendors update their sites, so anything here may have changed since capture. 6 of the 57 cost figures come from a third-party listing or interview that the profile names, not from the vendor page itself; we kept them to match the pricing study. The per-page median rests on 8 vendors and mixes different deliverables. This is a study of disclosure, not a rating: a vendor that publishes little can still be a good fit.

Where Medrecords AI fits

If you are comparing medical record review services against doing the work in house, ask any vendor for the 3 facts this study found missing most often: the price, the turnaround and the export format. Medrecords AI builds cited timelines with its medical chronology software and drafts medical record summaries you can check line by line against the source page. Our own price is public: Self-Service bills 10 cents a deduplicated page, down to 5 cents at volume, duplicates free; Enterprise On-Prem is an annual license. See pricing for the detail.
