How does Medrecords AI find and remove duplicate pages?

Medrecords AI takes out repeated pages before it reads your records, and gives back the credits for them. A page is only removed when it is an exact copy, sits inside a page that was kept, or every AI model agrees it is the same page. You can see each removed page next to the page that was kept.

Why it matters

Record productions repeat pages all the time. The same discharge summary can arrive from the hospital, the doctor and the insurer. Each copy would show up in your chronology and cost you credits. Removing them first keeps the chronology clean and the bill lower.

Turn it on or off

The switch is called Remove duplicate pages. It is on by default.

  • On a new case, you find it under Before processing on the create form.
  • When you add files to a finished case, the Add files window has the same switch.

When it is off, every page is read and charged, copies included. The change applies to the next upload.

How pages are matched

Reason shownWhat it means
Exact copyThe page is identical, byte for byte, to the page that was kept
Contained in the kept pageEverything on this page also appears on the kept page
AI-reviewed matchAI review confirmed it is the same page, with every model in agreement

If the models do not all agree, the page stays. The app would rather keep a copy than lose a page.

Whole files are checked too. If you pick the same file twice, even with 2 names, the app skips the second one before upload.

See what was removed

  1. Open the case.
  2. On the Overview, find the Case files card. It shows how many duplicate pages were removed. You can also use the duplicates figure on the Case files tab.
  3. Click it. A window opens with the number of pages reviewed, kept and removed.
  4. Use the chips Exact, Contained and AI to filter by reason. Or search by file or page.
  5. Pick a kept page. The window shows the Kept page beside each Removed copy, and why it was removed.

Your credits

Pages are counted when you upload. The credits for removed copies go back to your account in full. Your credit history shows a line with the number of pages removed and the credits returned.

Get the full file back

You cannot put a removed page back into the case. You can always download the file as you uploaded it.

  • On the Case files tab, a file with removed pages has 2 downloads: Deduplicated and Original.
  • Original saves every page, copies included.
  • If every page in a file was a copy, the file shows "Not processed: every page is a duplicate". Only Original is offered.

What it does not remove

Cover pages, blank pages and pictures that are not clinical are listed for you to see. They are not deleted by this step. To leave cover pages out, use the strip switches on upload. See add records to an existing case.
