Search your records with exact text or keywords in Medrecords AI
Medrecords AI has 1 search box with 2 modes. Exact finds text exactly as you type it. Keywords finds whole words and their everyday forms, and gives each keyword its own colour. Search looks at the text of every page, not only the summaries. It is free to use as often as you like.

Where to search
| Screen | What the box says |
|---|---|
| Records tab, documents | "Search records…" |
| Records tab, events | "Search entries…" |
| Timeline tab | "Search records…" or "Search events…" |
Pick a mode
The mode switch sits inside the search box. On a narrow screen it is 1 button that flips between the 2 modes.
- Exact looks for your text as typed, in any case. It finds parts of words too, so "arm" also finds "pharmacy".
- Keywords looks for whole words. "arm" will not find "army".
Search with keywords
- Pick Keywords.
- Type a word and press Enter. The box then says "Add another…".
- Add more words the same way. Each one becomes a chip with its own colour and a count of hits.
- With 2 or more keywords, choose All or Any. All shows records with every keyword. Any shows records with at least 1.
- Remove a keyword with the x on its chip, or press Clear keywords.
You can use up to 6 colours.
How keywords match
- A plain word finds its common forms. "fracture" finds fractured, fractures and fracturing. "injury" finds injuries.
- Codes and levels match exactly, whatever the dash, slash or space. M54.5, 72148 and L4-L5 work as typed.
- Put a phrase in quotes, such as "lumbar strain", to search for those words together and in that order.
- Words are split on spaces and commas. A word typed twice counts once.
What search covers
On the Records tab, search reads each record's title, summary, providers, facilities, treatments, codes, body parts, quoted passages, events and the text of every page.
On the Timeline, keywords also search every page. The page text loads first. If it cannot load, a note says keywords match titles, summaries and entries only.
Search or filter?
Use search to find words. Use filters to narrow by date, provider or category. You can use both at once. See filter and group the documents index.
