What do people ask about birth injury files in Medrecords AI?

These are short answers to the questions people ask most about birth injury files in Medrecords AI. The main points: run the file as a Medical Malpractice case, keep the mother's and baby's records in 1 case, and find labor facts with search, the timeline and Q&A. The app has no special birth injury logic.

Is there a birth injury case type?

No. Pick Medical Malpractice. Its pre-selected reports cover the standard of care and causation. See set up the case.

Should the mother and baby be in 1 case or 2?

1 case. The labor story runs across both charts, and you want 1 timeline. Name each file with "Mother" or "Baby" first. Make a "Mother" flag and a "Baby" flag so you can filter.

Does the app read fetal monitor strips?

No. There is no fetal monitor strip logic, and the app does not read the tracing line. It reads printed text on the page, like other pages. Faint scans give weaker text. Keep the strips in the file and flag them for your expert.

Does it find Apgar scores and cord gases for me?

Not on its own. There is no Apgar or cord gas logic. Search for "Apgar" or "cord gas", or ask in the Q&A pane, in the box that says "Ask about this case". Answers carry page cites. Open each cited page and check the value. See find the key labor facts.

What about the baby's MRI images?

DICOM imaging is stored and you can view it. The app does not read the images. Upload the written radiology report too, so the findings are in the text.

Will it tell me if strips are missing?

Only if another record mentions them. The missing records list finds records that other records point to. For strips, compare the times in the nursing notes with the times the strips cover. See check for missing records.

Which dates should I check?

Check the dates that anchor the story:

  • The start of labor
  • The date and time of birth
  • The NICU admission and discharge
  • The date of any brain imaging or EEG
  • The date a diagnosis was first written in the chart

The birth date and later diagnosis dates appear on the timeline. Make the birth date the main key date when you confirm, and add the others with Add date. Questions about what any date means for the case are for counsel.

Which reports should I write?

Start with the 3 pre-selected ones: Medical Malpractice Record Review, Standard of Care Analysis and Causation Analysis. Add a Damages Summary or Life Care Plan if you need them. See pick your reports.

Can my colleague open my birth injury case?

No. Cases belong to the person who made them. There is no case sharing today, and each person needs their own account. Never share a login.

Can it say whether the care was below standard?

No. It shows what the records say, with page cites. The opinion comes from your expert.

Medrecords AI organizes and cites the records. Its output is not a medical or legal opinion and does not replace your expert.
